On June 9, the 14th Forum of Green Development and Low Carbon Life, themed "Carbon-based Green New Drivers" and hosted by China Newsweek, was held in Beijing. CNPC was recognized as "Low Carbon Model in China" for the 12th time for its extraordinary performance in green and low-carbon development.

CNPC has included "Green & Low Carbon" into its corporate strategies, and mapped out a three-step approach of "clean alternative, strategic replacement and green development". It strives to coordinate the security of oil and gas supply and the green and low-carbon transformation, increase the production and supply of clean energies, enhance energy conservation and emission reduction efforts, and build a new development pattern featuring the complementarity of diverse energy sources. In 2022, CNPC's domestic natural gas production reached a new high, and new energies capacity reached 8 million tons of standard coal/year. Yumen, Tuha, Jidong and other mature oilfields have vigorously developed new energies businesses. Changqing Oilfield participated in the construction of CCUS full industry chain demonstration base. All these efforts will help CNPC transform into an integrated energy supplier of "oil, gas, heat, electricity and hydrogen".

At the same time, CNPC, by comprehensively strengthening carbon compliance management and the establishment of the greenhouse gas monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) system, has carried out in-depth efforts to build a green enterprise. It actively participated in the national methane control research and monitoring pilot program, strengthened exchanges and cooperation with Oil and Gas Climate Initiative (OGCI) and China Oil and Gas Methane Alliance, made the voice of Chinese energy enterprises heard, and promoted methane emission control actions.

In order to improve the comprehensive energy supply and guarantee capacity, as well as reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions in the oil and gas production process, CNPC seeks to vigorously replace its energy consumption for production with clean alternatives, and increase electrification rates in new projects, driving clean and low-carbon production.
